Environmental Statement

Environmental Statement

Our Fabrics Division is committed to minimising our environmental footprint, by adopting an active and responsible approach to designing and manufacturing our products as well as operating our facilities.

We will examine all the stages of an end product's lifecycle when designing new products. We will endeavour to continuously improve the total environmental impact of our products, by using a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of consumer end products as an ecological evaluation tool.

Critical aspects:

  • We are committed to sound science
  • Life Cycle Assessments are our benchmark
  • The durability of our products represents the cornerstone of our approach

Our founders, Bill and Vieve Gore, understood the importance of respecting the environment as well as promoting this attitude. We are proud to continue this tradition.

Milestones of our Sustainability Program

Gore Fabrics Division started nearly two decades ago to analyse the overall environmental impact of its fabrics products. From there we built our environmental program and focus today on implementing the bluesign® standard and actively participating in the sustainability initiatives of our industry.

The Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) – Gore Fabrics is a founding member - has unveiled on July 26, 2012 the Higg Index, a new tool for measuring a product’s sustainability performance across the industry value chain. The Coalition’s vision is an apparel and footwear industry that produces no unnecessary environmental harm and has a positive impact on the people and communities associated with its activities.
