The late 1950s were a time of discovery for Gore. The '60s brought our first patent - and nationwide recognition with it. In the '70s, GORE-TEX® fabric, our revolutionary waterproof, windproof, breathable fabric became commercially available. Non-stop innovation in the ‘80s gave birth to numerous new products. During the ‘90s, Gore raised the bar to a whole new level for technical fabrics: apparel that was waterproof and breathable even underwater, products that could suppress human scent, and an ultra-light, packable version of GORE-TEX® outerwear.
